These 3 Actions Will Make Him More Exciting to Be With

If you've ever whispered to yourself, "Where did love go?" — I see you, sister.

After 52 years of marriage, I understand how relationships can shift from butterflies to bills, from passion to planning, from connection to coexisting. The daily grind of life can dim the spark that once burned so brightly between you and your husband.

But here's the truth I want you to hold onto: You can fall back in love with your husband again — and it starts with a choice, not a feeling.

You don't need a brand-new man. You need a fresh lens and a bold heart. The man you married is still there, perhaps buried under years of routine, stress, and unmet expectations.

But he's there, waiting to be rediscovered.

Here are 3 powerful actions that will reignite excitement and open your eyes to the man you once couldn't get enough of:

🔥 1. See Him with New Eyes

Ask God to show you your husband through His eyes. Instead of focusing on what's missing, start noticing what's meaningful. The way he provides for your family, even when he's tired. The way he protects what matters most. The way he presses on through challenges, day after day.

I remember a season in my marriage when I was so focused on my husband's flaws that I couldn't see his strengths anymore. Every conversation felt like a critique. Every interaction highlighted what he wasn't doing rather than celebrating what he was.

Then I prayed a dangerous prayer: "God, help me see my husband the way You see him."

The shift was remarkable. I began to notice his quiet acts of service. The way he checked the locks every night to keep us safe. The gentle way he handled our children when they were struggling.

When you shift from complaint to compassionate curiosity, excitement rises. You're not falling in love with a stranger — you're rediscovering the man God gave you.

🔥 2. Speak Life, Not Labels

Words shape worlds. If you've been calling him lazy, distant, or hard to love — it's time to shift your speech. The labels we place on our husbands become the lens through which we see them, and eventually, they become the reality we create.

I learned this lesson the hard way. There was a time when I constantly referred to my husband as "forgetful" and "unreliable." Guess what? He became more forgetful and unreliable. My words were actually reinforcing the very behaviors I was frustrated with.

Start affirming the man you want to see more of. Tell him he's strong. Tell him he's capable. Tell him he's still the one who makes your heart skip a beat. Tell him he's sexy (yes, even after all these years!).

A man who feels admired rises to the occasion. When you speak life over your husband, you're not just changing your words — you're changing your heart. And when your heart changes, your feelings follow.

Biblical Foundation: "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." - Proverbs 18:21

Try this: Replace every critical comment with an affirming one this week. Instead of "You never listen," try "I love how thoughtful you are when you really focus on something."

🔥 3. Start Playing Again

Yes, PLAY. Laugh together. Tease each other. Dance in the kitchen while dinner cooks. Ask flirty questions like you did when you were dating. Plan a mini date night with no agenda except connection.

Somewhere along the way, many marriages lose their sense of play. We become so focused on responsibilities, schedules, and problems that we forget how to simply enjoy each other's company.

When you lighten the atmosphere, you invite joy back into the relationship. And joy is magnetic.

I'll never forget the night my husband and I were doing dishes together, and I spontaneously started a water fight. We ended up soaked, laughing like teenagers, and more connected than we'd been in months. That moment of playfulness reminded us both why we fell in love in the first place.

Playfulness creates emotional intimacy. It breaks down walls, reduces stress, and reminds you both that marriage can be fun. When you're having fun together, it's much easier to fall back in love.

Try this: Plan one playful activity this week. It could be as simple as a dance party in your living room, a game of cards, or surprising him with his favorite dessert "just because."

The Heart Behind the Actions

Falling back in love is less about changing him and more about awakening what's been buried in you. It's about choosing to see with eyes of love, speak with words of life, and engage with a heart of joy.

This isn't about pretending problems don't exist or ignoring real issues in your marriage. It's about approaching those issues from a foundation of love and appreciation rather than criticism and frustration.

When you change how you see your husband, you change how you feel about your husband. And when you change how you feel, you change how you act. And when you change how you act, you often inspire change in him, too.

🛠️ Wife Challenge:

This week, pick ONE of these actions and practice it daily:

  • See with new eyes: Ask God to show you one thing to appreciate about your husband each day

  • Speak life: Replace one critical comment with an affirming one each day

  • Start playing: Initiate one moment of playfulness or joy each day

Journal what shifts inside you — and between you. I promise you'll be surprised by what happens when you choose love over criticism, appreciation over frustration, and joy over routine.
